The YANGTSE VOVAGE DATA RECORDER |
FOR SMALL COASTAL/ RIVER VESSELS
| PRELIMINARY DATA, subject to change. |
Other IMO Compliant VDRs : |
VDR /S-VDR VR2272-B | |
INTRODUCTION
This capsule records
the navigation data necessary to plot a ship’s movements for the last 12 hours
before loss of power. It’s application is on
·
Workboats, river and coastal vessels.
·
Vessels outside the scope of the full IMO/IEC VDR.
·
Vessels with small radars, which do not have an output
for a VDR. |

|
|
|||
| The system does not pretend to be a full VDR with its deep submergence and fireproof memory capsule which stores huge amounts of data, radar, voice and radio communications. If you need all that then fit the AMI full VDR. The important thing is that this is a simple, no frills, automatic “black box” data recorder. It does not attempt to be a “course and data recorder” which is another AMI product. | |||
| SYSTEM DESCRIPTION |
|||
| A memory capsule in a rugged diecast aluminium enclosure is mounted outside the bridge. A single screened cable connects to the KW950 inside the ship. | |||
|
|
The KW950 is the data controller for the capsule,
connecting to · DC power 24 volts.
· GPS data (Date, time, latitude, longitude, course and
speed over ground.)
· Heading, magnetic or gyro (NMEA 0183.)
· Wind data, rudder angle, RPM, pitch, and thrust data. |

JUNCTION BOX:
170
x 120 x 55 mm diecast box, duck egg blue.
CABLES:
Miniature screened cables via cable glands. REPLAY OF DATA:
Control is via proprietary NMEA 0183
data commands to the module from a PC. KW950 in replay mode interrogates the capsule and replays the data. Stop, start, go to memory location, data on/off, loop etc. DATA FORMAT:
The data saved is compacted and reconstituted into proprietary NMEA 0183
format. The system saves only the essential and basic navigation data at 10
second intervals. It is replayed in proprietary and NMEA 0183 standard sentences. |
